ESTIMATE CHECKLIST

What to send when requesting a window, door or insulation estimate

Prepare the information that helps make a window, door or attic insulation estimate more useful.

Give the project a clear starting point

Include your address, contact details and a short description of the work you want considered. Say whether you are exploring options or working toward a particular schedule. If you have more than one project in mind, list each one so the estimator can explain what can be assessed together.

For windows and doors

Send photos from inside and outside where practical, and identify the rooms or entrances shown. Include the approximate number of openings and explain what you want to improve. Rough measurements can help an initial discussion, but they should not be treated as final ordering dimensions. Mention any planned changes to layout or appearance.

For attic insulation

Describe the attic access location and share any records of previous insulation work. Mention known leaks, repairs or other conditions you want assessed. Use photographs you already have; you do not need to enter the attic to make an enquiry. Our attic top-up planning guide covers useful scope questions.

Flag practical constraints

Explain access restrictions, occupied rental arrangements or timing preferences that affect a visit. Identify who can authorize the work and who should receive the estimate. If several people are involved in the decision, agree on the main priorities before the visit so the discussion covers what matters to everyone.

Ask for a written scope

After the assessment, review the proposed products, included work, exclusions and next steps. Ask about anything unclear before deciding. Keep possible incentives separate from the agreed project price until eligibility is confirmed.
