Egress Windows in Prince George.
Basement egress windows done start to finish — the dig, the concrete cut, the window and the well.
A safer way out. A legal bedroom.
An egress window gives a basement room a proper emergency exit — and it’s often the piece that lets a basement room work as a bedroom. We handle the whole job, including enlarging openings, concrete cutting and window wells when required, so you’re not juggling different trades.
Most of our egress jobs start with an existing basement window that’s too small. We dig out beside the foundation, cut the concrete to enlarge the opening, set a new All Weather At Home window and finish with a galvanized steel window well on a bed of drainage rock, then put the grade back.

The whole job, start to finish.
Here’s what an egress window job with Lipstick usually involves.
- Basement bedrooms
- Enlarged openings
- Concrete cutting
- Window wells
- All Weather At Home windows
- The dig we excavate beside the foundation for the bigger opening and the window well.
- The cut the concrete is cut and the old opening enlarged to take the new window.
- The window a new All Weather At Home window is set, sealed and finished in the bigger opening.
- The well a galvanized steel window well goes in on drainage rock, and the grade goes back around it.
Basement windows can count toward the window rebate only where the basement is heated. Check the current program rules before counting on it.

An egress window is a window big enough, and low enough, to be used as an emergency exit. In a basement that usually means a larger opening than the original window, plus a window well outside so there’s room to climb out.
Do I need an egress window for a basement bedroom?
In most cases a bedroom needs an emergency exit, and in a basement that’s usually an egress window. The exact requirements come from the BC Building Code and your local permit office, so confirm them for your home before work starts. We can talk through what your opening needs at your free estimate.
Can you make my existing basement window bigger?
Often, yes. Many of our egress jobs start with an existing basement window: we dig out beside the foundation, cut the concrete to enlarge the opening and set a new window in the bigger hole.
Do I need a window well?
When the bottom of the new window sits below the ground outside, a window well holds the soil back and leaves room to get out. We install galvanized steel wells on a bed of drainage rock and put the grade back around them.
How long does an egress window take?
It depends on the opening and the site. Some jobs are done in two visits — one to dig and prepare, and one to cut, install the window and finish the well — and the well can follow later if it’s still on order.
Can you replace my other windows at the same time?
Yes. We replace windows and doors across the whole house, and some of our egress jobs are for homeowners whose other windows we’ve already done. Mention everything you’re considering when you request your estimate.
